CLEARANCE PROCEDURES

 

New Coaches must complete the following before coaching:

Hyperlinked items can be completed online and/or printed, filled in and emailed to the Athletic Secretary Brandon Mayeski at bmayeski@guhsd.net

  1. Email or call Athletic Secretary Brandon Mayeski to pick up your New Hire packet – bmayeski@guhsd.net or (619) 593-5324
  2. Fingerprinting (form included in New Hire packet)
  3. TB test (form will be provided by District Office)
  4. Making Right Choices – Lifetime Certificate
  5. Coaches Information Form
  6. Conflict of Interest – Teacher   OR
  7. Conflict of Interest – Walk-On
  8. CIF Code of Ethics

District Courses:

  1. Mandated Reporting – Renewed Every Year
  2. Suicide Prevention – Renewed Every Year
  3. Sexual Harassment – Renewed Every Year
  4. Covid Prevention – Current requirement

NFHS Courses:

Fundamentals of Coaching – Lifetime Certificate
Concussion Course – Renewed Every Two Years
Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course – Renewed Every Two Years
Heat Illness Course – Renewed Every Two Years

All coaches and volunteers should complete the following forms:

  1. Coaches Information Form
  2. CIF Code of Ethics
  3. Coaches Emergency Contact Form

Volunteers must complete the following:

  1. Volunteer Form

Head Coaches should complete this once for entire program:

  1. Hazing Code Verification

In addition, all PAID coaches must complete a First Aid/CPR course every two years.  Courses may be taken at the site of your choice, however GUHSD does periodically offer CPR classes as well.  Click here for more information on upcoming offerings!  A copy of your current CPR card should be emailed to or brought by the Athletic Secretary’s office.  

All Returning Coaches (paid and volunteer) must complete the following:

  1. Coaches Information Form – if you’ve had any changes to your demographic or other information, including coaching position and/or sport
  2. CIF Code of Ethics – completed yearly
  3. Mandated Reporting – Renewed Every Year
  4. Suicide Prevention – Renewed Every Year
  5. Sexual Harassment – Renewed Every Year
  6. Covid Prevention – Current requirement
  7. Conflict of Interest – Teacher   OR
  8. Conflict of Interest – Walk-On – yearly

We are trying to accommodate both our athletic programs as well as our academic teachers. We will adhere to the below schedule for athletic early release.

  • Home Games – 1.5 hour max prior to the start of the game. Ex. For a 4pm game time, the earliest release time would be 2:30pm.
  • Away Conference Games – 2 hour max prior to the start of the game. Ex. For a 4pm game time, the earliest release time would be 2pm.

Away Non-Conference Games – Release time may be adjusted in addition to the 2 hour max depending upon the travel distance.
